Terms of Service
Last updated: 3 June 2026
This document is a draft prepared for the Advocata Cyprus pilot and requires review by qualified legal counsel before commercial launch. It does not yet constitute legal advice.
These Terms of Service govern your use of the Advocata platform during the Cyprus pilot. By using the platform you agree to these terms.
1. What Advocata is
Advocata is an online booking and intake platform that connects clients with independent, Cyprus-licensed advocates for legal consultations. Advocata is a technology provider. It does not itself provide legal advice and is not a law firm.
Any attorney-client relationship is formed solely between you and the advocate you engage, not with Advocata.
The platform, including its chat, is a booking and intake channel and is not a privileged legal channel. You should not share privileged or highly sensitive material in platform chat; privileged communication belongs in the consultation with your advocate.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract to use Advocata. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your account credentials secure.
3. Advocates and verification
Advocates on the platform are independent professionals who are members of the Cyprus Bar Association. We verify Cyprus Bar membership and a valid practising licence before an advocate can accept consultations. Advocates are responsible for the legal advice they provide.
4. Bookings and consultations
When you book a consultation, you agree to the advocate’s published rate and the stated scope of that consultation. The advocate is responsible for delivering the consultation; Advocata facilitates scheduling, communication and payment.
5. Fees and payments
Clients pay the consultation fee published by the advocate. Advocates keep their full legal fee. Advocata charges a fixed platform fee and never takes a percentage of an advocate’s legal fee. Payments are processed by our payment provider, Stripe.
6. Cancellations and refunds
Cancellation and refund terms applicable to consultations will be presented at the time of booking and form part of these terms. We aim to handle cancellations fairly to both clients and advocates.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to misuse the platform, including by attempting to circumvent verification, sharing unlawful content, infringing intellectual property, or using the platform for any purpose other than obtaining or providing legitimate legal consultations.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Advocata is not liable for the legal advice provided by advocates or for outcomes resulting from that advice. Advocata provides the platform on an "as is" basis during the pilot. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus, and disputes are subject to the jurisdiction of the Cyprus courts, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections available to you.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the platform evolves towards commercial launch. We will post the updated version here and update the "last updated" date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
